Illustration Friday: Phenomenon

Finding a cottage made of sweets and candy in the middle of the forest was quite a delightful phenomenon for these lost children.

I did this for Will Terry's Hansel and Gretel class assignment which he was kind enough to open up for anyone to play along. It was rather generous of him to offer critiques of each piece submitted. Check out all the entries on Will's wonderful blog . Thanks to Will for the inspiration!

The first thing that came to mind when I read that this week's topic was 'phenomenon' was an old Muppet Show song which I knew wasn't the exact word in the song, but had a similar sound. I was able to find it on that handy youtube, and found it's actually, 'Mahna Mahna', which is a catchy little tune that I remember a littler me bopping along to back in the day.

clever, clever interpretation Angela! Love your use of blues and greens. They make the piggies pop! :) And that Muppet's song is one of our favorites!

This is wonderful, Angela! You are on fire these days. It feels like in the past 2 months you've grown so much as an illustrator. It's soooo inspiring! I need to push myself more like you do.

Absoultely great! Love the pig/wolf characters, just delightful. I shouldn't laugh I know but the bacon thought-bubble over wolf-witches head cracks me up! Really ace work :)

Thanks everyone!

Diandra, heehee, I'm glad to hear you know that song...a classic!

Tracy, I can feel that something has been happening lately. A combination of conferences and talking with you all about illustration daily has really helped me focus my efforts. And Tracy, I've been noticing excellent progress in your work lately that will take you far!

Bee, I'm glad you giggled. Totally appropriate!
