Illustration Friday: Fortune

Roger the simian librarian has spent a fortune collecting first run editions of all his favorite novels. To him, they are a treasure more precious than all the gold in the world.

I'd like to say a big thank you, and that I'm flattered and honored to have just been spotlighted on Michelle Lana's site. Michelle is so sweet, and her creativity and hilarious sense of humor are a wonderful inspiration. Check out her awesomely fun blog.

I love Roger the simian character. His pants and green shirt make him look like a little pineapple. I'm not sure if that was intentional, but it is perfect. I hope to see Roger again.

I love the texture and complexity, along with the simpleness (is that a word?) of your illo. Great job.

Thanks for dropping by Angela! It's nice to hear from you again.

Let's hope Blogger do something about their image uploading system.

By the way, your idea for Fortune is great.

Great style. I like the contrast between the colourful character and the monochromatic background.

Rogers outfit is super duper! Great illo, and the text in the background is a neat detail. Pickledog and I waved to you from downtown Chicago, but I think the buildings were in the way.

Thanks everyone! Hee hee, I see now he does have some pineapple-e-ness about him. I was thinking all along he looked like a 'potato shoved into jeans' like in the Jewel song that I like to sing in the car. http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/jewel/everybodyneedssomeonesometime.html

Roger is the most fabulous monkey. I love his outfit - he looks so retro. The background just has a great texture and I love the words scattered about.

There is a strong family resemblance, my family, specifically, in Roger. I know that's not what you were going for, but ... wait a minute, is that why you wanted that old family photo?
