Usually commercials are annoying, but I love the Citibank commercial with the father and son in Norway. The dad is so adorable, and has the most gentle, sweet eyes. I tried to capture some of his likeness, but I couldn't quite get his full cuteness. For those unfamiliar with this commercial the son asks his dad what he wants to do for his 60th birthday, and the dad says he'd like to go to Norway, the land of their ancestors. They sample the local fare. They see the fjords, and get new sweaters. Then they go to the hall of records, and discover that they are actually Swedish, and buy two tickets, and set off for all new adventures. You can see the video of the spot on YouTube here.

great work, I love the art style used in the illustration
Great angle! I, too, like the fine pen style and color palette.

Really nice work, story including!
beautiful illustration! love the textures, the color choices --- lovely!
i also like that commercial - it makes me chuckle :)
nice work and I love the story behind it. Thanks for your nice comment on mine. I had big hair in the 80's as well!
I know the commercial you mean! You've captured the Dad quite nicely, in all his sweetness. And I love your drawing style.
I really like your concept for "little things"! Your drawing style is very unique, and the colors are great. I love this commercial too!
I've seen that commercial, it's so cute! You really captured the spirit of it. Just love your style!
I think your piece captures them perfectly, -a!
But unfortunately that commercial irks me a bit, they just come off as Ugly Americans that can't tell their ancestral and cultural differences betwixt Norway and Sweden. :( Plus, I hate credit card companies, I'm sure you can remember why.
Just being honest.
I'm going to go finish a post of random crap now. Seriously.
seems like it's an interesting commercial--nice depiction!
Thanks everyone! :)
I see what you're saying Trevor, but I have to disagree about the ugly. Not everyone has the luxury of knowing their complete ancestral history. I myself, don't know as much as I'd like. I say they get credit for taking the time out of their fun vacation to do the research. And, it also makes for a comical ending. :)
Your artwork is great!
You got the likeness...this is really cute, Angela. Thanks for continuing to visit. :-)
I´ve been seeing the commercial, cute! And your ilo is really cute too, beautiful soft colours .
And thanks for commenting on my blog!
It's a good commercial, and it gave me the idea to mistakenly think I'm Hawaiian for a few weeks.
I like this, and I like their sweaters most of all. No, I like their beer most of all, with the head of beer foam.
I really like the concept behind the commercial. You really captured their likenesses here.
Ha! I kmow that ad, it is good. Your stuff lately has been better than ever.
Angela -- Just terrific. You've captured the commercial and the real life characters. What a terrific illustration. I'd love to get a copy. Are there paper prints or is this only a computer image?
I'm flattered that you'd be moved enough to illustrate the moment . . . I had a ball playing the cute Dad "not" finding his roots in Norway . . . though some other blog sites felt the Dad was a bit dim-witted. Either way, cute or dim-witted . . . the spot has effected a lot of people. I'm thrilled.
Please get back to me.
Thanks . . . Norm

Very sweet, and their jazzy snowflake sweaters make it festive for the season too.
